It's a metal building whose primary structural components are fabricated as a coordinated package and assembled on site, commonly used where large open interior areas are needed.
Light-gauge steel — also called cold-formed steel — uses thin steel sheet formed into studs, tracks, and joists, taking the place of conventional wood framing members.
A post-frame building, often called a pole barn, is supported by posts set at regular intervals rather than continuous framed walls. It's commonly used for agricultural, storage, workshop, and utility buildings.
Red iron describes structural steel framing — the I-beam columns and rafters that form a metal building's frame — named for the red oxide primer applied to the steel.
